“Developing an effective model for combating corruption is a top priority task for us. We already have appropriate developments, and in a day or two we will have necessary meetings, after which we will be able to develop an appropriate technical component. It is primarily about the introduction of the system for on-line property declaration, as well as preparation of appropriate software for this process”, - stated Gia Getsadze, Deputy Minister of Justice of Ukraine during a meeting with the representative of the IMF legal department Mission on governance, combating corruption and improving business climate in Ukraine Emmanuel Mathias.
According to him, the system for online property declaration of officials is one of the effective components of the anti-corruption process, which will show the real picture on how do public officials live and thereby making them accountable to the public. “This means reducing corruption, which remains the main problem for attracting foreign investments to Ukrainian economy”, - emphasized Gia Getsadze.
Additional matters, discussed during the meeting have been related to terms of beginning of work of the National Agency for prevention of corruption as a central executive authority with special status.
“As of today a preliminary phase of the competition for selecting future members of the National agency has taken place. Decisions in order to perform this competition have been already approved by the government, as well as Provisions on Public Council of the National Agency. I believe that the Agency will start its work in summer”, - stated Rober Sivers, Head of the Anti-Corruption legislation department of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine.
The parties have emphasized the importance of intensification of anti-corruption work in Ukraine.
